Andrew Gresel Looking for Bright Spot to 2019 Season at Jukasa

Saturday - August - 2019

SAUBLE BEACH, ON – While his APC United Late Model Series season has not gone to plan in 2019, longtime Pro Late Model front runner Andrew Gresel is headed into this Sunday’s Canadian Short Track Nationals event at Jukasa Motor Speedway believing in his team’s ability to beat the best Crate Late Model programs in North America.

Gresel’s Sauble Falls Racing team has worked nonstop over the course of the last two weeks to prepare for the 250-lap race, unwilling to allow the opportunity of adding their name to the history books of the Crown Jewel event pass them by.

“We’re dedicated to working through the slump that we’ve been in this season and coming out on the other side better than ever,” explains Gresel as his team prepares to depart for Jukasa on Friday morning.

“I think a lot of teams lose sight of their best course of action when things aren’t going their way. It’s easy to panic. You start making decisions out of emotion”

“We don’t want to fall into that trap,” continues Gresel. “If you start taking risks and chances that you normally wouldn’t it can be real easy to get off track. And, if that happens, it gets harder and harder to find your way back”

Gresel’s best finish in APC Series action was a 6th at Delaware Speedway in late June. However, his veteran team sees Jukasa’s unsanctioned Crown Jewel as the ideal setting for a standout performance.

“This team absolutely understands just what a big run on Sunday could do for us,” says the Sauble Beach, ON native. “We’re ready to add a win to our resume before this year is over. And, if we’re going to win, we might as well do it in the biggest race of the season”

“This is our chance to remind these guys that we haven’t forgotten how to do this. This field is deep as all hell. We’re ready for a battle for two straight days. The stands are going to be packed and there’s going to be a ton of media attention – it’s going to make for an incredible atmosphere”

With heavyweights like Bubba Pollard, Donnie Wilson, Johnny Clark and Patrick Laperle dotting the ‘Nationals’ entry list, Gresel understands just what type of battle his team is headed for on Sunday.

“To be able to say we had a strong performance this weekend would mean everything to us,” says Gresel. “Just look at the entry list that this race has drawn. It’s a who’s-who of the guys that matter in Late Model racing today”

“This win is something that every guy wants on the back of their card – because there’s no question that it matters. But, we have to be at our very best if we want a chance at it. So, that’s what we’re aiming for.”
