Andrew Gresel Eager to Snap Winless Streak this Thursday at Jukasa

Friday - July - 2019

SAUBLE BEACH ~ It’s easy to understand why Andrew Gresel might feel as though his Sauble Falls Racing team has been knocking on the door to an APC United Late Model Series victory for the better part of two calendar years.

The former tour champion last won with the cross-province series in August 2017 – however, since then, his record has been dotted with near-misses and flashes of brilliance.

“We’ve been close more times than I can count (in the last two seasons),” admits Gresel. “There really haven’t been many nights where we’ve unloaded with a bad racecar. More often than not, when we leave the shop, we’re leaving with a piece that we know can contend”

“But, to win on a tour like this, it takes a lot more than just having a good car. There’s a ton of variables. And everything has to cut your way if you want to walk out a winner at the end of the night”

Gresel has looked the part of contender in his last two races – Round 4 of the tour at Delaware Speedway and Round 5 at Flamboro Speedway – but despite showcasing noticeable speed, finished with a 6th (Delaware) and an 8th (Flamboro) place finish by the time the smoke had cleared.

“At this point in time I’d race three or four nights a week if I could,” explains Gresel, “because I absolutely believe that the more we race this car, the closer we’re getting to a win”

“We’ve only had five races with this car so far – so we’re still figuring out a lot of the important bits,” continues the Sauble Beach, ON native. “We’re making notes on what the car likes and what it needs and what I need to do to make my style work with it. It’s all a process. It doesn’t happen overnight”

Fresh off of his two strong top-10 tour performances, Gresel will look to Round 6 of the tour at Jukasa Motor Speedway this Thursday, July 25th as the ideal opportunity to break back into the win column.

“There’s a real good chance you’re going to see us unload (at Jukasa) like we have something to prove,” smiles Gresel. “Those close-calls lose their charm real quick. We’re coming to Jukasa knowing that we’re going to need more than a top-10 finish to feel satisfied”

“I always hear guys saying that they’re just hoping to ‘survive’ when they come to race at Jukasa,” adds the fan favourite. “Our team is setting the bar a lot higher than that. We don’t want to just ‘survive’ without a scratch on our car. We’re coming to contend and run up front and do whatever we need to win and get this car in victory lane.”

Gresel’s next APC appearance will come ‪July 25th at Jukasa Speedway for the 6th round of the APC United Late Model Series’ 2019 schedule.
